Keeping Norfolk Homes Beautiful...

Victorian Tiling
Victorian Floor Tiling is a true testiment of British heritage. It became popular during the Victorian and early Edwardian eras, originally only seen in the homes of the privaliged, palaces and stately homes, usually seen on the entrance pathways and hallways of the building. In its day it was a statement of wealth with its stylish, bold and colourfull geometric designs and is truly an artform to itself. Originally made from Quarry, modern reproductions of these tiles and designs have become popular again and dependent on the manufaturer are now available in either Quarry, Porcelain or Vitrified Ceramic materials. The intricate designs and patterned borders are made from individual squares, triangles, rectangles, octagons and pentagons of different sizes and colours, making the design opportunites endless. However, because of this the design and installation requires a lot of planning and care and the installation can be extramely labour intensive, some patterns may have up to 150 tiles per square metre!... The Victorians were also known for their use of highly glazed wall tiles, hand painted borders and skirting tiles which will look beautiful in any home, Victorian or not. Quarry and Virtified Ceramic tiles will require sealing before and after grouting, and periodically after the installtion. This magnificent artform will without any doubt give your home the 'wow-factor'.
